When Brother Fought Brother

"A
house divided against itself cannot stand. I believe this government cannot
endure permanently half slave and half free. I do not expect the Union to be
dissolved; I do not expect the house to fall; but I do expect that it will
cease to be divided. It will become all the one thing or all the other. Either
the opponents of slavery will arrest the further spread of it and place it
where the public mind shall rest in the belief that it is in course of ultimate
extinction, or its advocates will push it forward until it shall become alike
lawful in all the states, old as well as new, north as well as south."
Abraham
Lincoln, June 16, 1858, Address to the Republican Convention

Introduction: The
Civil War era is one of the most critical and fascinating events that have
happened in our nation's history. Many
Americans lost their lives in the Civil War than in any other conflict. We are
going to start in a journey that will take you back to the 1800’s where you
will learn about battles, generals, inventions, food, and songs that were
generated during this historical time.
